COVET by J.R. Ward- Possible Book Summary

Release Date: September 29, 2009

After searching voraciously on the Internet for everything 'Covet', I stumbled upon a possible summary listed by Mary Monroe on Amazon.com in the 'Covet: A Novel of The Fallen Angels' Forum. She writes that this is the summary listed by the publisher's catalog.

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Black Dagger Brotherhood novels...

First book in a spellbinding new series of mortal sin- and immortal love

Redemption isn't a word Jim Heron knows much about- his specialty is revenge, and to him, sin is all relative. But everything changes when he becomes a fallen angel and is charged with saving the souls of seven people from the seven deadly sins. And failure is not an option. Vin diPietro long ago sold his soul to his business, and he's good with that-until fate intervenes in the form of a tough-talking, Harley-riding, self-professed savior. But then he meets a woman who will make him question his destiny, his sanity, and his heart-and he has to work with a fallen angel to win her over and redeem his own soul.

Oh, and direct from the WARDen's mouth, Marie-Terese, head prostitute of ZeroSum is the heroine of 'Covet'.

It has also been confirmed that the Brothers WILL be making appearances in the series.

And before you get your hopes up, Lassiter is NOT one of the Fallen Angels in Ward's new series.

Bring it on!!! I definitely feel a little sin coming on! You know me and my fallen angels. I seriously cannot wait for this series.

VFG,

Yeah, I'm axiously awaiting this new book by Ms. Ward. Bummer about Lassiter...kinda hoped he'd be getting his own book. Does anyone know if her new series is classified as Urban Romance too? I'm not loving the new direction of the BDB books, but I'm still a fan!

LOL, Charlotte!! I'm really REALLY stoked about this new series too. I'm ready for a change up. Only a few more months girl, just a few more months. :)

(((hugs))) VFG

Hey Lisa, a.k.a. Pelehini!

I'm under the impression that Lassiter WILL get his book as part of the BDB series. No confirmation on that though... I'll keep my ear to the ground for you on that one. ;)

I haven't found a classification for 'Covet' but I'm imagining it to be like LEn and LAv, urban fantasy with STRONG romantic elements. Surely it will remain erotic in nature like with her BDB world.

Hey VFG:

Wow, you really have done some investigative reporting to find this!

Man, I don't know. I think I'm going to wait for your reviews and then I'll see if I can get past my "issues".

Is this one to be released in hard cover?

Warm Regards
L

Awesome find! Now we don't have to wait another year to get a fix from the BDB world. Thanks for the time & effort you made to dig up this info. up. Much appreciated. ^_^

Caffey said...

Will she be writing between these two series? I love reading Fallen Angels and this sounds so different, unique! 4 Months to go!

VampFanGirl said...

Hi Lea!

'Covet' will be release in SOFTcover.

:) VFG

Hey Fantasy Dreamer!

I know, right? I'm really looking forward to this new series. It might not be all about the Brothers but anything loosley connected would be great.

:) VFG

Hey Caffey!

Yeah, Ward will be writing both this new Fallen Angel series and the BDB simultaneously. I think we're going to be getting one BDB and one Fallen Angel novel a year.

Let the count down begin!

I can't wait for this book to come out and dive into a new JR Ward series! I just hope there are NO LESSERS in this one- I am really tired of them.

Hey Blodeuedd! Me too. I'm really excited to see the Brothers from a more outside perspective.

You're welcome Amanda! ;) OMG I'm so ready to get back to two Ward books a year. *sigh* I miss those days.

LOL, MsMoonlight! I couldn't agree with you more. I really hope there's no lessers. We need a new cast of villians.

Me too Heather D! I'll be standing in line on release day for my copy. :)

Just a few months Michelle, and we'll get our fix. :)

Oooo. Good to know.

I'm kind of torn about Lassiter. His wisecracking amuses me, and I'm curious about his sitch... but he kind of smells like shark to me, you know what I mean?

VampFanGirl said...

Hi Nicola O.!

Yeah, I hear you on Lassiter. I'm still unsure about his motives. He appears to really want to help Tohr but he certainly isn't doing merely from the good in his heart. The fallen angel definitely has alterior motives, IMO. Plus, Ward really is keeping "him" under wraps. We know next to nothing about him.

Lol. I'm Mary Monroe so I can confirm this summary is genuine, and not the product of my overactive imagination :-DDD You can read it for yourself here: http://booksellers.dk.com/static/pdf/nal-mm-oct09.pdf In case the linnk doesn't work, just google "Penguin booksellers", click on "catalogues" on the sidebar, then Fall 2009 catalogues and it's the NAL October 2009 one, second page, on the left. I still don't understand that I was the first to find this summary - surely I'm not that much more book-obsessed than any other avid reader ?? :-/ - but I'm glad more people will get to see it in advance thanks to your blog. Those early blurbs are usually pretty close to the final ones.

About the series itself, all I hope is that JR can do something original and not heavy or preachy with the Christian mythology, and that she goes back to focussing her books on romance and one pair of characters at a time, please. The last three BDB books had lost the delicate balance and freshness that made the charm of the first 4 novels. :(

VampFanGirl said...

LOL! Hey Mary M.!!! a.k.a Mary Monroe. :)

OMG you have no idea how long and hard I've been looking for this summary! I don't know why I never was able to stumble upon the link you provided but I'll be sure to update my post with the info.

Thanks for the ultimate confirmation! I didn't connect the Mary's and I didn't want to say anything was concrete and have it not be. I hope my words of "possible summary" weren't offensive. (((hugs))) I'm definitely gonna knock on your door the next time I'm hunting for a summary *wink*.

Hmmm...I have big doubts that Ward will lean heavily into Christian mythology. Lassiter, as a fallen angel, certainly doesn't fit with the religous images of angels that we have today what with his piercings, chains, and combat wear. I'm sure that Ward will dazzle us all with something new and unique. Well, I hope anyway...

As far as the romance goes, I too have my hopes that she'll return to the romance of the good ole days but alas, I think she'll continue down the road that she's set for herself.

Thank you again for confirming the source Mary M.!

Lol! No offense taken VFG, don't worry :). I've seen a lot of BS "information" on the Amazon forums at times, so I can understand your reservations :-DD Seriously, the Penguin catalogues are an excellent source - I always check them for more info about the upcoming releases of JR, Jim Butcher, Laurell K. Hamilton and Nalini Singh (although Nalini usually posts the book blurbs on her blog before the catalogues are out so it's moot :D). Can't remember how I first stumbled upon them, I think the Penguin booksellers site can't be accessed from the main Penguin site, but I haven't checked that in a while. Anyway, if you ever look for information, do ask, maybe I'll be able to help ;) I love to dig for information.

JR did say that the Fallen Angels would absolutely be paranormal romance, so I'm trying to stay hopeful...but I think she still pretends that the BDB is romance, which doesn't bode well. I'm rather disenchanted with the BDB, which saddens me to no end as it used to thrill me more than anything else I had ever read. But with the Fallen Angels it's a new beginning... new characters to establish (characterization is her strong point), a chance to art again with world rules... so I'm crossing my fingers. She did manage to make something awesome with the BDB originally, so she could do it again. I sure hope so! :)

Ummm. Hello. Sounds like my kinda hero. I've suddenly developed a thing for motorcycle riding rebels. Hmmm. Imagine that. Too bad about Lassiter (God I love him more than words can say). Hello yummy new series (which doesn't drop off into a dead zone like the BDB did with LEn...crossing fingers...muttering "please please please" over and over again).

VampFanGirl said...

Hey Mary M.!

LOL! "but I think she still pretends that the BDB is romance, which doesn't bode well" - I soooooo hear you on this. :) I think you've got Ward pegged. She is a master at characterization. All her heroes stand out and are instantly identifiable. It's her heroines that really lack individuality. The woman can write men but she falters with the ladies. And like you, I'm hoping that with the beginning of a new series, she start over and bring on the romance again. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

:) VFG

VampFanGirl said...

Hi Tia!

LOL! You're definitely not the only one hoping that this new series shows some real knock out romance.

I'm lovin' Lassiter too. I don't remember if Ward mentioned anything about him making any appearences in the new series, but I know for sure that the brothers will.

I love this blog!! Can you believe a hunky guy turned me on to J.R.Ward?! I'm so glad this book will be in soft cover. I'm still waiting to read the lastest J.R.Ward!! I'm pretty much new to the vampire books, etc, etc. Can anyone point me to some other great finds? Oh wait! I can ask my hunky friend! *giggles*

VampFanGirl said...

Thanks Anonymous!!

Well, if you're lovin' Ward's vamps then I suggest Lara Adrian's Midnigh Breed Series, Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunters, and Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark. All super hot paranormal series with vamps and other yummy creatures like demons and shifters.

Enjoy!
